Grassroots Philly
I am the co-founder of Grassroots Advocacy for South Philadelphia. GRASP is a group of friends and neighbors dedicated to connecting residents with representatives and candidates.
We are non-partisan, and among our main goals is harnessing the power of folks looking to get involved in politics on a local level.
I created the identity for the group, which sprung from the many community events we plan year-round. One of the most impactful ways we connect our neighbors to local representatives is through our event planning. We’ve coordinated community meet-and-greet events with local candidates for U.S. Congress, Pennsylvania State House, and Pennsylvania Lt. Governor (with more in the future).
In these meet-and-greets, we offer candidates the opportunity to speak about themselves and answer questions we've prepared and shared with them. Candidates are then able to informally meet their potential future constituents. These events are mutually beneficial for candidates to get a better sense of the communities they'll be serving and—most importantly—for voters to have access to more tools to make informed decisions at the polls.
Our logo is flexible, including illustrations of district lines for a particular election. The mark can be adjusted based on a particular election's focus, or application on a particular event's print or digital collateral.
My role in our group includes designing all digital and print event-related collateral including flyers, invitations, slide decks, and more. As our events have expanded, I work to give each event its own distinct personality, but still appearing uniquely “GRASP.”
